Seventh Suppers: Huddle Coffee

The importance of coffee shops within local communities has grown incredibly within the last few years - who doesn’t like a great coffee or matcha? At Seventh we’re constantly searching for moments, places and spaces to rest and we found a great example in Huddle Coffee Paris.
Cozily tucked in with 3rd, Huddle Coffee is a balanced warm & modern destination offering specialty coffee and a safe space for anyone to come and pitstop, work or connect. Founded by Mat & Orane, the tight-knitted team of 3 have built an inclusive community known to many Parisians. They welcomed our team into their space to talk comfort meals and the importance of community.

What’s your ultimate comfort meal with an accompanying drink?

Mat: The Couscous of my Algerian Grandmother
Orane: The traditional ‘Pasta Rossa’ I eat with my family in Italy. Sometimes with a local red wine.
Jako: Chilli Con Carne of my Mother.

Why food & beverage over anything else?

It’s all about conviviality, sharing and pleasure. Food is life. It brings everyone together.

What do you enjoy the most about your work?

Gathering people around and making connections.

If you were to recommend anything from your menu what would it be?

Our V60. It's a hand dripped method. You can make them with a lot of different coffee beans. You will have to make a very specific recipe in order to provide the best cup to your customer.

Your coffee name is called ‘Huddle’ - meaning ‘to crowd together’; what’s your take on creating a space for people to convene, socialise and connect?

Community has always been something important to us. Gathering people around, being a place where people can connect with each other, having a good time and sharing our vision to others has always been the DNA of what Huddle is.

Why are we, and by we I mean us, so addicted to coffee shops? Whether we drink it or not, what do you think makes the space somewhere people can lounge their days away without any judgement?

A coffee shop is a safe place where you can easily escape from the rush of your daily routine. You can meet friends, read a book, or just enjoy the place itself. A coffee shop is a place made for everybody.

You’re not only a Coffee destination, you’re a ‘Creative Space’, what do you think is the future of traditional Coffee shops and do you think the hybrid approach is the way forward?

The “Traditional” coffee shop will always stand. They are such special places that people will always need a coffee shop nearby.
Making a hybrid space is a way for us to be able to talk to our own people - our community. It goes from the music, the space itself, the books, to our customer service. We really wanted to mark the difference between us and the other coffee. We are Huddle and as soon as our vibe is talking to you, you’re Huddle too. This place is much more than a coffee shop, it is a place where creatives, brands or anyone else could be enlightened. We want anyone to feel like they’re at home. Again, it’s all about sharing with our community.
